Becoming a Christian

You don't have to be in a church building to be saved.  You can receive God's gift of salvation right where you are, right now.

These Bible verses speak to us about God's free gift of salvation.
Romans 10:13 - "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Romans 10:9,10 - "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

We encourage you to agree with God’s Word and express your faith toward God by praying this simple prayer. Please read it out loud and agree with what you say.

Dear God,
I come to You and acknowledge that I have sinned.
I need Your mercy and Your forgiveness.
I turn my heart to you now, and I turn away from my current lifestyle and my sins.
I believe that Your Son Jesus came to this earth and died on the cross for my sins.
I believe that He rose from the dead so that I could receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.
I accept Jesus as my Savior, and I confess Him now as my Lord.
Thank You for forgiving me, taking away my sins, and making me Your child.
According to your Word I am saved.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

NOW THAT YOU’VE RECEIVED THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE…

1. Realize that in receiving the gift of eternal life, you have taken a wonderful first step. God not only wants you to have this gift, but He also wants to have a close personal relationship with you, to follow Him, and to serve Him with your whole life.

2. Get a Bible and begin reading! We recommend you begin with the Gospel of John. This book of the Bible will give you a tremendous introduction to who Jesus is. We also recommend you read a Bible that is translated into modern language. You might consider the New King James Version or the New International Version.

3. Find a good church and attend regularly. It is important to become part of a good church that believes in the Lordship of Jesus and the authority of the Bible.  Your new walk with God and your spiritual growth are vitally connected to your involvement in a good church.
